Santoro's Restaurant Review:

This family-operated business has been going strong since Eisenhower was president, and the look of the place hasn’t changed much since then: just a deli case, counter, wall-mounted menu and a few Formica tables. The vintage look and the old-school subs turned out by the friendly staff provide comfort to a loyal clientele happy to stand in line for the classic sandwiches. A Santoro’s favorite is the pepper steak sub, which is thinly-sliced top round loaded into a soft Italian roll---baked fresh just down the street at San Marco Bakery---with garlic, peppers and optional provolone (even an optional scrambled egg). It’s kind of a mix between a Philly cheesesteak and a Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich. Like most subs here, it’s topped with marinated pickles, tomatoes and onions, then given a dash of salt, pepper and oregano. The meatball and sausage subs, bathed in a spirited marinara, are also winners.
