Serratto Restaurant Review:
Serratto's happy hour is one of the city's best, offering satisfying personal pizzas, calamari with lemon caper rémoulade, arancini with wild boar, a thick burger topped with fried onions, and spaghetti Bolognese, all at reasonable prices. Pair these small plates with the cocktail of the day or a glass of vino from an extensive wine list. Big windows open up onto NW Portland streets, and there is outdoor dining on nice days. The Vineria wine bar is a good place to hang out and soak up some local color. If a full meal is on your schedule, move to the dining room, which is family-friendly despite the crisp linen and leather chairs. House-made pasta dishes are reliably first-rate, particularly the cavatelli with crab in a saffron-citrus cream sauce and the tagliatelle tossed in a rich wild boar ragù. Venturing beyond Italy, you might try the sweet potato empanadas with sunflower seed romesco, or the steelhead with hedgehog mushrooms and saffron citrus cream. Those craving lighter fare will find plenty of sandwiches and salads, along with crispy pomme frites with a signature garlic aïoli. For dessert, order the bittersweet chocolate cobbler or crème brûlée.
