Shari Sushi Lounge Restaurant Review:
Shari’s lounge-like atmosphere and signature cocktail menu attract hip 20-somethings after work, while the sushi and interesting appetizers draw in the foodie crowd. If you do have to wait for a table, belly up to the sleek white bar and sip one of more than a dozen signature cocktails, such as the pur-pearl haze, a blend of Junmai saké and Chambord. Before your dive into the sushi, start with one of the original appetizers, like shishito tempura (crisp fried Japanese peppers) or Peking duck tacos. Sushi aficionados will enjoy exploring the extensive menu; favorites include the ceviche roll with hamachi (yellowtail), avocado, tempura shallots and chipotle lime sauce, topped with flounder, micro cilantro and Hawaiian sea salt and served with a wedge of lime; and the Mt. Chau---a blue crab, cucumber, avocado and cream cheese roll, covered in baked conch, spicy mayo, smelt roe and scallion mix. If raw isn’t your thing, there’s a selection of warm entrées, from miso sea bass to chicken teriyaki. Desserts are superfluous but the banana egg roll with house-made coconut ice cream is worth a try. Locals flock during happy hour (5 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily) for the special menu with 20-plus sushi rolls, sushi, sashimi and some signature martinis.
