Stanley Restaurant Review:
Stanley is located on a high-traffic corner in Jackson Square, smack dab in the center of the French Quarter, and it’s a perfect place to eat and people-watch. The restaurant offers counter seating where patrons may view the bustling activity outside as well as the open kitchen. Sky-high ceilings and lots of big windows make the place feel like old New Orleans. Chef Scott Boswell knows how to make even a casual place memorable right to the end. His menu reflects the authentic, classic soda shop atmosphere: burgers; creative egg dishes; pepperoni pizza/Caesar salad po’ boys; hearty soups and a first-rate gumbo. Begin with a Bloody Mary (or a Mega-Mary) and go from there. But be sure to wrap it up with the Stella Uptown dessert: rum raisin ice cream over carrot cake with sweet cream cheese sauce, whipped cream, toasted walnuts and cherries. Or try the bananas foster French toast. There's not much of a wine list, with fewer than a half dozen, as the casual nature of the restaurant really doesn't make it a destination for wine.
