Starfish Menu
American and Asian sensibilities mingle in this dark, Pacific Rim-style venue created by OC restaurateur Nancy Wilhelm.
Starfish Restaurant Review:
Located across the street from Montage Laguna Beach, this venue provides an aesthetic alternative to the sprawling resort's luxurious vibe. The space is dark, the atmosphere cozy, and the décor is influenced by the Pacific Rim. Starfish’s menu also enables it to forge its own unique identity. The culinary milieu is one that infuses Americanized touches into a broad arrangement of coastal Asian gastronomic motifs, although this marriage of concepts is clearer in some of chef Jarvis Yuan’s dishes than it is in others. Since most of the plates are conducive to family-style dining, you may want to draw up a battle plan on how to work through the menu as you indulge in one of the signature cocktails. We recommend settling into the meal by ordering the trio of Korean galbi tacos and wok-fired mussels served in Thai basil coconut curry broth. From there, items such as wild mushroom garlic noodles, moo shu pork and whole fish of the day make for ideal options to share. Pamper your sweet tooth with one of the Asian-inspired flavors of ice cream. Locals and tourists seeking midday nourishment should note that the restaurant offers a scaled-down version of the dinner menu at lunch.
