Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Like its parent SUSHISAMBA restaurants, Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill locations exist in other cities. But the Miami outpost was the originator, and this place was one of the first spots in town to kick off the small plates form of dining. It accommodates three separate kitchens: a Japanese robata grill; a raw bar running the global gamut from sushi to ceviches, crudos and tartares; and one for international tapas.
Food & Drinks: Frankly, we have yet to hit a clunker item on the menu, which is mostly inspired by Japan and Spain (with side trips to Korea, Italy and several other countries). Main must-haves include bone marrow, a large portion of the rich comfort food; and tender textured, boldly flavored beef short ribs. Wine and beers lists are well-rounded mixes of boutique bottles and quality classics, but liquors are even more tempting; bartenders know how to make serious traditional martinis as well as tropical drinks (try the beet mojito).
