Sushi Zushi Restaurant Review:
Sushi Zushi is hip and casual and has apparently struck a chord with locals if its expansion is any clue. On the appetizer agenda, we go for crawfish dynamite in spite of the unconventional chipotle mayo that accompanies them (the owners are from Mexico City). But we might also contemplate a tuna or salmon tartare sprinkled with wasabi tobiko. In order not to have to contemplate the outrageous list of excessive rolls, we might even be tempted to stick with appetizers such as the traditional pot stickers that prove the kitchen can do simple with swagger. We would, in any case, ignore the Austin roll, but feel obliged to point out that the San Antonio model consists of salmon and spicy mayo rolled within finely sliced cucumber. Several of the “zushis” and sashimis are also suitable foils for one of SZ's fine sakés; it's the largest selection in town, and drinking them cold is counseled. Other locations.
