Tableau Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Tableau gives new meaning to “dinner and a show.” Le Petit Théâtre, the longest continually operating community theater in the country, is located in the same building as this elegant fine dining spot. Restaurateur Dickie Brennan (Palace Café, Bourbon House, Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse) has created a three-story showplace with an imposing grand staircase and a wraparound balcony overlooking Jackson Square for outdoor dining.

Food & Drinks: The strictly New Orleans menu features such classics as bouillabaisse, bacon-wrapped oysters, shrimp rémoulade, pan-sautéed Gulf fish, barbecued shrimp, and stone-ground grits with chèvre and thyme. Typical of Brennan's other restaurants, the wine list is long and complex with respectable by-the-glass selections, and ultimately satisfying to the most discriminating oenophile. Stay for dessert: the café au lait pot de crème will light up your taste buds. The bar on the first level offers a more casual dining experience from the same menu.
