Tequila Chito's Restaurant Review:
New York City has always suffered from a dearth of quality Mexican restaurants. And even in cases where the food has shown promise, it’s prone to an NYC-influence, losing its south-of-the-border authenticity. This Chelsea eatery isn’t going to help the problem. The offerings are more like the old-school version of norteno Mexican fare: goopy cheese liberally spread on top of enchiladas; tacos filled with dry, tough meat; and salads with limp vegetables. Nachos arrive with a dozen chips on a plate, each one individually dressed with thick layers of cheese and a jalapeño pepper. The only thing that saves Tequila Chito’s is the robust margaritas.
