Thea Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Considering Thea’s location --- on the border between the Wynwood Arts District and Miami’s Health District, a sterile neighborhood of hospitals and medical research facilities --- it’s not surprising that this breakfast/lunch place is something of a “best kept secret.” Inside, however, is a different world, with dark woods and a 30-foot Italian tile mural setting the artsy ambience, and an immense open oven serving notice that the eats couldn’t be farther from hospital food. In fact, the beautifully burn-blistered pizzas, with crisp outside/airy inside crusts and imaginative topping combinations (like Gorgonzola, arugula, walnuts and truffle oil) call to mind the much-praised pies at Joey’s. This is surprising only until one realizes that Thea is Thea Goldman, former founding co-owner, with ex-husband Joey, of the larger but similarly casual-chic pioneering Wynwood eatery. The rest of Thea’s menu, though limited, features other Joey’s signatures like cheese and charcuterie boards with quality ingredients, and impeccably fresh salads. Desserts include a salted caramel gelato. For breakfast, there are standard pastries, or go for the bacon and egg pizza.
