Tidepools Restaurant Review:
An authentic island experience, eating outdoors in an open-air thatched hale (or, as they say on the continent, grass hut) has few competitors as a romantic and tropical-feeling evening occasion. Located on the grounds of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, Tidepools offers it all. The hale sit like islands in a large pond full of local, tropical fish, and are rimmed with tiki torches for an even more exotic touch. The menu offers basics, such as Kauai-grown produce and locally caught seafood, elevated to savory heights. This is the place to eat fresh fish, whether it’s the ono ceviches, opah with crab meat and volcano candy spice, or macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi. If you must have meat, Tidepools knows this territory, too, serving up tender prime rib rubbed with Hawaiian salt and garlic and served with truffle jus.
