Tuscan Grill Restaurant Review:
Tuscan Grill’s intimate 40-seat interior is lovely, but the riverfront patio is better at this Italian restaurant, where prices are upscale but ambience is ultra-friendly (even to kids). Dishes are a mix of complex, luxe items (like house-made squid ink ravioli stuffed with smoked salmon in a lobster cream sauce) and more rustic fare such as a giant roasted pepper and ricotta stuffed meatball, big enough for two, or pasta e fagioli, Tuscany's famed bean and pasta soup, here supplemented with pancetta and made to order. Pumpkin-filled tortellini with sage and pine nuts is especially satisfying, and veal specials are also reliably well done. At lunch, the more informal menu offers pizzas from an otherwise oddly underused wood oven, and crusty panini. The extensive wine list focuses on Italy, but ventures into France, New Zealand, Germany, Chile and the U.S.
