Uncle Yu's Restaurant Review:
Uncle Yu's is hardly the typical suburban Chinese restaurant. It features a coolly contemporary dining room with glass-block room dividers, stressed concrete pillars and luxurious furnishings. It also boasts a wine list brimming with fine selections from California and France, as well as a menu that goes well beyond the usual. Classic regional Chinese dishes augment daring experiments in East-West fusion. The real strength of Uncle Yu's kitchen lies in its elegant yet affordable dishes such as pan-fried baby lobster tails with a scattering of scallion and jalapeño rings, roasted quail with a tart-spicy sauce and wilted spinach, five-spice marinated quail and tea-smoked duck. Forget the fortune cookies --- there's chocolate mousse for dessert.
