Urban Noodle Restaurant Review:

Contributing to the new life in this formerly forgotten part of downtown is Urban Noodle, right next to the Museum of Neon Art. The lively eatery offers a menu of noodles, soups and small plates with inspirations from throughout Asia. With its worn brick walls, high ceilings and contemporary paper lanterns, the place is hip and edgy, attracting downtown workers and residents of loft developments lining historic Spring Street. The dim sum---sui mai, har gow and shrimp balls---are very respectable, although you can find better in Chinatown or a few miles east on the I-10. Ditto for the noodle dishes, such as dan dan noodles in a sesame-peanut sauce or Singapore rice noodles. Less successful is the honey-teriyaki chicken, with a cloyingly sweet sauce and, on a recent visit, poorly trimmed meat. Ice creams from the Beverly Boulevard’s Milk make for satisfying finishes, especially after spicy dishes.
