Vinny's on Windward Restaurant Review:
Vinny is a whimsical reference to artist Vincent Van Gogh, whose initials adorn another of the company's several area restaurants, Bistro VG in Roswell. This contemporary American and Italian establishment is the labor of Chris and Michele Sedgwick. High ceilings and brick walls translate into a pleasing, if somewhat noisy, atmosphere. Executive chef Armando Campos has preserved the honored status enjoyed by the tomato-ciabatta bread soup, sprinkled with grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. But don't overlook his daily special soups, such as a silky-textured red pepper bisque. Jumbo lump crab cakes have been a signature item since the couple first started in business. Lunch is a singularly good deal (as are the pizzas); a main dish of chicken scaloppine with lemon, capers and kalamata olives is a winner, and the portion is plenty for two. For dessert lovers, there are lots of choices, including a killer tiramisu and anything made with Callebaut bittersweet chocolate. This wine list has a definite Italian accent. Look for special wine dinners, as they give the chef an opportunity to exercise other gastronomic notions.
