White Fence Farm Restaurant Review:
Come early and often --- especially on Sunday, when the place packs with after-church diners. At this old-school restaurant, the family-style fried chicken is topnotch. Visitors are led through a series of a dozen dining rooms decked with odd antiques before being seated. Birds are a must, and they come piled high on a platter, after, of course, you take in an all-you-can-eat relish tray of kidney bean salad, zingy coleslaw, beets and sweet, corn-flecked hush puppies. Don't miss the mashed potatoes (it comes with electric-yellow gravy) and the brandy ice, which is a real kick-in-the-pants. Post-meal (or while you’re waiting to be seated), check out the petting zoo. During holidays, call ahead for hours. Closed in January.
