Wilf's Restaurant & Piano Bar Restaurant Review:
Wilf's is an excellent choice for a special night out, or more mundanely, a surprisingly good place to enjoy lunch while waiting for a train. Located in the historic Union Station building, this 40s- and 50s-spirited restaurant has a dining room that harkens back to a more dignified, serene era. Red velvet seats are high-backed and elegant, while live jazz fills the room Wednesdays through Saturdays. The menu also echoes a bygone era, although with a modern commitment to local, sustainable and organic produce. Start with the creamy truffle bread pudding or enjoy a traditional tableside-tossed Caesar salad. Then order the steak Diane, also prepared tableside, or the succulent sea scallops. A vegetarian menu has healthful alternatives such as an elaborate Mediterranean vegetable pastry. Although the wine list is lengthy, imbibing a dry martini may be more appropriate for the setting. For the late-night guests, Wilf's offers various after-dinner drinks as well as exotic flambéed desserts such as bananas Foster.
