THIS RESTAURANT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED Zinc Bistro & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
Dining in a bar no longer implies the liquid lunch and drinks-as-dessert excuse it once did. At Zinc Bistro & Wine Bar, imbibers and abstainers alike may elect to start with flash-fried calamari that transcends the knee-jerk genre or the guacamole prepared tableside---just as it is at nearby sister establishment Boudro’s; either works with the well-worn floors and exposed brick walls that outfit the space. Working nicely with lusty reds and elegant whites from the international wine list is the Zinc burger and larger plates such as the Gulf blue crab cakes with tarragon butter. Pizzas on the order of the Gorgonzola with figs and prosciutto or the sopressata with pepperoncini are additional possibilities, as is a Texas chopped salad with tequila-cured salmon. Zinc also offers an extensive list of French bubblies, great for the action that takes place in the adjacent courtyard and/or after hours when other restaurants disgorge their diners and staff.
