Zingerman's Delicatessen Restaurant Review:
Zingerman's is not just an Ann Arbor institution, it's a world-class gourmet food emporium, offering olive oil from Lago di Garda, fancy artisan cheeses, and an immense array of sausages. Located in a historic building, the deli and next-door café stay jam-packed day and night. Warm, hearth-baked breads from Zingerman's own bakery, including one spiked with locally brewed Steelhead Red Ale, share shelf space with vinegars, French olives, brownies and European chocolates, plus the place’s own products like marshmallows and peanut butter. Students, tourists and regulars queue up for giant corned beef and pastrami sandwiches on rye, or homemade chopped liver on challah. There's noodle kugel, potato latkes and an assortment of knishes, too. During warm weather, enjoy these goodies and more at picnic tables outside; or in less clement weather, settle in at tables in the adjoining café-coffee bar. Take a class and learn to make breads, cakes or pies, or attend Camp Bacon, a four-day extravaganza for bacon lovers.
