Michael Jordan's Restaurant Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: This suburban steakhouse buzzes with activity. Whether it’s traffic from professionals from nearby office parks or couples and families in for an upscale meal, the classy restaurant fills every social need. A bar area lined with TVs and high-tops is the more casual option to more celebratory dining in the left section. More than 100 photos of MJ’s storied career line the walls, a Bulls’ fan’s fun walk down memory lane. Service is swift and attentive.
Likes: Mindful service.
Dislikes: The bar area can feel a bit cramped.
Food & Drinks: Cornerstone Restaurant Group succeeds in providing the same level of food and service of the downtown Chicago flagship at this Oak Brook outpost. Solid appetizers include the signature garlic bread, Nueske’s double smoked bacon (caramelized with Burton’s Maple Syrup) and tuna poke with pickled mango, sweet onion, Serrano peppers and watermelon radish. Steaks command attention; the Prime Delmonico is aged for 45 days and finished with a balsamic ginger jus. An eight-ounce filet is juicy and tender with béarnaise butter. Order a wedge salad topped with Nueske’s bacon to split, or stick with one of the flavor-filled sides such as the four-cheese mac with cheese cracker crust. A robust cocktail, beer and wine list (featuring multiple by-the-glass options) lends to the upscale steakhouse experience. End on the richest note: a 23-layer chocolate cake. Consider returning for a decadent lunch or at-the-bar meal: The Steak House Burger is a treat with Nueske's bacon, roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions, aged cheddar and 23-ingredient steak sauce.
