Michael's Restaurant Review:
Replicating its former restaurant in the former Barbary Coast resort on the Strip, Michael’s thrives in its south-Strip location. Longtime maître d' Jose Martel graciously seats guests under the stained glass dome in this 50-seat restaurant a world apart from the casino. High-backed burgundy upholstered chairs offer privacy around the tables set with burgundy tablecloths topped with lace. Australian lobster, shrimp and Maryland lump crab cocktails are dramatically served in lit star-shaped ice towers. Coquille St. Jacques and baked escargots are among other favorites. Champagne-splashed sorbets prepare the palate for house specialties that include breast of chicken Sicilian, veal piccata or francese, and tournedos of beef Marengo. Broiled Maine lobster and Michael’s scampi are winners, as are charcoal-broiled steaks including Châteaubriand bouquètiere for two. Complimentary petits fours and chocolate-dipped dried fruits follow desserts such as cherries jubilee and bananas Foster for two and pastry cart fantasies.
