THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Miss Yip Chinese Cafe Restaurant Review:
The main dining room is resplendent with tufted banquettes, Chinoise wallpaper, antique bird cages and a large, open kitchen---it looks like a chic Hong Kong-style teahouse. Chef Vincent Cheng's Chinese cuisine is likewise pretty to look at, and tasty too, but it lacks the depth of flavor that can be found in less attractive, less expensive joints. Some dishes do possess a potent kick, most notable a starter of barbecue ribs finished with a sweetly piquant glaze, and oven-roasted barbecue duck done in traditional Hong Kong fashion. Crispy snapper deep-fried and splashed with sweet-and-sour sauce satisfies in routine manner; vegetarian dishes tend towards the sappy. Miss Yip's most alluring selections are the dim sum, which are served all day, every day. Desserts aren't much to speak of, but the tea selection is super.
