Molly’s Restaurant Review:
Many of Molly’s regulars live within walking distance, and on warm evenings, the multi-level, 11,000-square-foot brick patio is the place to be in the neighborhood. Many come for the craft cocktails and beers, but the Cajun items have earned a loyal following, too. Jambalaya with house-made andouille and duck-shrimp gumbo top the list of classic entrées. For sandwiches, there’s tender pulled pork barbecue and a variety of po’ boys, from traditional buttermilk-battered oysters to pork loin in a Vietnamese-style banh mi. The barbecue shrimp appetizer is worth a try for the extra-flavorful fried green tomatoes that come with it. Alligator is likewise marinated and fried, then served with crab meat and beurre blanc sauce. For dessert, bypass the beignets in favor of nut-rich pecan pie or dense, cinnamony bread pudding.
