Monty's Prime Steaks & Seafood Restaurant Review:
In L.A., Monty’s, named after founder Monty Levine, has been associated with steak for almost 70 years, long before Ruth’s Chris, Morton’s and Fleming’s arrived on the scene. This is the last remaining Monty’s, previously a small chain that started in Pasadena. It’s an old-school steakhouse with nostalgic red leather booths and strong martinis delivered to them. Loyal regulars begin with shrimp cocktails, an iceberg lettuce wedge or oysters Rockefeller, before tucking into USDA Prime steaks and finishing with the signature bread pudding. You'll also find king crab legs and lobster on the menu, along with a large roster of steakhouse sides. Monty’s has assembled a solid wine list, deep in reds from around the world and not overpriced. Places like Monty’s have all but disappeared, and the experience is a refreshing retro change from the city’s sleek, contemporary steakhouses.
