Nomad Asian Bistro Restaurant Review:
Nomad Asian Bistro seems hidden, as it’s tucked in the backside of a sprawling shopping center across the street from the Long Beach Marina area. Yet the spot bustles with plenty of patrons who belly up to the bar or settle into the bright, airy space to enjoy the wide selection of Halal Chinese cuisine. You won’t find pork dishes on the menu, which fuses Chinese fare with Mediterranean culinary and cultural sensibilities. But you will encounter plenty of generously portioned entrées, from jalapeño chicken and basil eggplant to more progressive fare like cumin lamb and the tender lamb tripe. Be sure to order the chow mein, which features handmade noodles that yield ideal texture and flavor consistency. Starters like thin sesame flatbread or scallion pancakes are versatile enough to be enjoyed as side dishes for the mains. You can accompany your feast with an assortment of teas or special non-alcoholic beverages, such as unsweetened ginger ale. A truncated menu is available for the lunchtime rush.
