THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Odys & Penelope Restaurant Review:

After closing Hatfield's, Quinn and Karen Hatfield moved on with this churrasco and grill concept on a hip stretch of La Brea Avenue near their café/bakery The Sycamore Kitchen. The site of Odys & Penelope was once a printing press and the restaurant's name is a nod to the characters from Homer's Greek epic poem "The Odyssey." Concrete floors, brick walls and exposed wood rafters bring an organic, industrial feel to the space. A focal point is the stack of wood adjacent to the open kitchen, which has a counter with a few seats where diners can watch the action. There's also a long bar on one side and a communal table towards the front of the dining area. Roasted and grilled dishes feature prominently on the simple menu, from starters of grilled crostini with creamy crab to mains such as slow-grilled Wagyu tri-tip with charred broccolini and house béarnaise or oak-grilled branzino with cherry tomato, spring onion, asparagus and fried pea tendrils. (Even "The Farmer's Dozen" salad features roasted vegetables alongside raw ones all dressed with a pepita "butter" lime vinaigrette.) Comforting desserts include the chocolate pie with rye crust, peanut crumble and vanilla-malted ice cream. The wine list is limited, but there are several craft cocktails and interesting bottled beers to satisfy the desire for a trendy libation. The staff is knowledgeable. (Take note that an 18% service charge is automatically applied to all food and beverages.)
