Old Hamburg Schitzelhaus Restaurant Review:
The atmosphere here is more utilitarian, but the kitchen aromas will definitely tell you the cuisine is German. The emphasis is on authentic recipes, so the stuffed cabbage comes filled with meat, not rice. There are potato pancakes, either as an appetizer or entrée, filled with potato, onion and seasoning. Entrées include goulash served either with roasted potatoes or spätzle (small noodles) and wienerschnitzel made with pork or veal. Other choices include the expected, but cooked with a sense of individual attention, such as sauerkraut and bratwurst. Or consider Ramschnitzel (lamb served in a Cognac cream sauce). Authentic German beers and ales are also available, of course, and on weekends, it's Oktoberfest almost every week.
