JR's Old Packinghouse Cafe Restaurant Review:
Live music by local entertainers keeps the Old Packinghouse rockin’, even given its somewhat remote location more or less out in the country, with a view of open fields and nearby Interstate 75. All styles get the spotlight, from acoustic to country, even a little bluegrass. The décor extends the country feel, with farm equipment, signs and old photos scattered around. The food doesn’t offer as much excitement as the entertainment: expect everything from lobster, shrimp and prime rib, burgers, Cuban sandwiches and country-fried steak. One nice touch is the BYOF offer: bring your own fish, already cleaned, thank you, and the Packinghouse will serve it up however you like it and throw in two sides for under $5. Now that’s a good deal that certainly helps the place live up to its name.
