THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Old Peculiar Public House Restaurant Review:
Once simply a neighborhood pub in the truest sense of the word (it didn't even have a TV), this charming corner of historic downtown Norcross has acquired several TVs, a new owner, and someone who can cook. Neighbors gather for games of Trivial Pursuit and to throw darts, and one has to wonder how much TV is actually watched. The food's pretty good now, with a lamb-centered shepherd's pie and some pretty good bangers 'n' mash, the latter made with fresh mashed potatoes. But then the new owner, Huw Thomas, is an Irishman and he's got a sound sense of how this local favorite ought to be operated. As a result, crowds of 30-somethings are flocking. There are lots of beers on draft and out of the bottle, although the selection needs a good nonalcoholic brew to round out the inventory.
