Orchard City Kitchen Restaurant Review:
Upbeat and roomy, Orchard City Kitchen (known as OCK to the locals) is a contemporary hangout outfitted in reclaimed brick and barn wood, where diners feel at home entertaining clients or hanging out with friends at the well-stocked bar. Service is smart, friendly and efficient: no pretense here. Sit window-side at the generous mix of long highboys or traditional tables to sample chef Jeffrey Stout's (Alexander’s Steakhouse) contemporary cuisine, featuring unexpected, vibrant flavors from around the world. Order plates to share, such as the lobster dumplings, smoked trout roe with truffled ponzu, pastrami and Muenster on marbled rye, lobster knuckle rolls, kohlrabi and kale salad, fried chicken or the “pig on pig” pulled pork sandwich layered like masonry with savory bacon and grilled pork belly. Pair the food with an inventive cocktail, perhaps the “Menace II Society” with Cognac, Chartreuse, Thai chili and lime. Dessert is easy: split the crème brûlée or soft-serve ice cream. A lively happy hour runs every evening from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
