Oscar’s Cafe & Bar Restaurant Review:
Known for its bodacious weekend brunch and a casual ambience, Oscar’s caters to a pet-friendly crowd, with doggies dining alongside their human counterparts on the spacious patio. The dining room is a people-only space with a bar and a collection of small and large tables. Begin your meal with a signature appetizer, such as creative Reuben egg rolls stuffed with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese and accompanied by Russian dressing. The shareable four-cheese phyllo pastry includes ricotta, Gorgonzola, Asiago and mozzarella, with baby greens, grapes and walnuts. The lunch menu includes salads and sandwiches, but the dinner line-up offers an expanded list of entrées including tender lamb chops with root vegetables and couscous with a date-mint vinaigrette. Lobster potpie features potatoes, carrots, oyster mushrooms, peas and leaks concealed beneath a flaky puff pastry. Every Saturday and Sunday, Oscar’s is abuzz during the aforementioned brunch with an array of omelets, griddled items, hash, and bagels and paper-thin lox with all the accouterments. For dessert, try the lip-puckering lemon tart. While the wine list is decent, the crowd here seems to prefer mimosas to Merlot.
