Other Mama Restaurant Review:

Situated in a nondescript strip mall, Other Mama offers a comfortable atmosphere with a hardwood floor, hand-painted wall mural, open kitchen and wood tables and chairs. On the seasonal menu is a selection of oysters, sashimi and Asian bar food, with fresh seafood arriving daily. A chalkboard lists the specials, sashimi options and where the seafood was sourced. There are plenty of unique, surprising combinations: oyster Rockefeller with foie gras; french toast topped with caviar; a tostada with live ME lobster, habanero aïoli and cabbage; and ceviche of octopus, shrimp, white fish and habanero with sweet potato chips. Equally creative craft cocktails, all named after women, include the Geraldine with bourbon, grilled pineapple, house cherries, Burlesque Bitters and togarashi. Eleven sakés, among them Rihaku Wandering Poet Junmai Ginjo, are matched with 17 craft beers, many of which are hard to find gems such as Stillwater Tropic Punch Sour Ale. Desserts change nightly, and during our visit we enjoyed the chocolate walnut brownie with candied orange and rummed cherries. House-made ice cream in flavors like Nutella and miso honey is always available, too.
