Over the 9 Restaurant Review:
This gastropub’s name is in part a nod to the Over-the-Rhine district, the very active brewery and bar scene in Louisville’s upstream Ohio River neighbor, Cincinnati. Wine and beer made here are first-rate. Recommended are the Bore Dough (a dry red) and the flagship Falls City pale ale. (Note that some wines are intentionally sweet.) The menu is relatively short, but uniformly very good. Chef Bob Durbin’s signature dishes include pork shoulder Bolognese with apples, sage and farfalle; jalapeño garlic grits; cornbread soufflé with black-eyed peas; and anything crafted with duck. Burgers and sandwiches are multi-story affairs. For dessert, sip one of the bourbons prominently displayed behind the bar; laid-back staff will be your co-conspirators in this pursuit.
