P.F. Chang's China Bistro Restaurant Review:
The updated take on Asian (mostly Chinese) cuisines is set against the striking backdrop of an East-meets-West contemporary bistro décor. The culture-melding menu follows suit, including adding carb-free and gluten-free dishes. We like a mai tai or coconut mojito followed by hot-and-sour soup. Other favorite appetizers are the jícama tacos, spicy chicken lettuce wraps, sushi and crisp salt-and-pepper calamari. For a main course, we suggest the Hong Kong sea bass with fresh ginger, the spicy-citrus orange peel chicken, the mild but tasty shrimp with lobster sauce or the piquant pepper steak. Desserts represent other continents with New York-style cheesecake, tiramisu and multi-layered chocolate cake. The small wine list of mostly California selections is appropriate for Chang’s spicy dishes. Bartenders have fun with old-fashioned umbrella drinks. Also located at Renaissance Center at Southpoint, 8801 Fayetteville Rd., Durham, 919-294-3131.
