Palm House Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Of the four distinct dining rooms, weeknight locals prefer the bustling bar atrium with its menagerie of LED-lit birdcages and tropical hanging plants, while brunchers flock to the popular street-side patio.
Food & Drinks: The menu at this lively cantina doubles down on Cal-Tropic stylings and traffics heavily in chipotle, mango and ginger. Appetizers are playful and well executed, headlined by sweet coconut crusted prawns, chipotle baby-back ribs and a refreshing Tombo tuna ceviche. Savory jerk chicken in black-eyed pea ragoût is moist and on-point. Grilled Hawaiian walu is flattered by a flavorful sesame sofrito, but needlessly crowded with wild rice and snap peas. The bar’s signature slushies, punch bowls and a host of quenching, spice-inspired cocktails are supported by a dozen beers by the bottle and glass.
