This on-the-go eatery in Carmel is the town's oldest Italian, here for 50 years, a teeny fixture inside The Dowd Arcade. Carmel has its share of outdoor fireplaces, but at Paolina's, you can hop on a stool and take shelter around this one---indoors. Walk straight up to the counter and choose from a number of simple pasta preparations from the blackboard. Hearty soups warm the soul, so too do the panini (hard to choose between the eggplant or tuna). With prices so low, why not try both? The extra sustenance just might be needed after a day of shopping on the town.
