Peter Chang Restaurant Review:
Noted local chef Peter Chang takes on the Maryland challenge with this restaurant in Rockville’s popular Town Square. This is a Maryland first for the chef, whose signature dishes focus on fiery Szechuan cooking. His menu is so extensive that patrons may end up overeating. Where to begin? Chang offers dim sum (not from carts) as appetizers, and one of the more bewildering items is his Big Bun, which, by the way, is enormous and enough to feed four. From there, consider the pan-fried sesame pancake (also large), spring rolls and noodles, and noodle soups. These are followed by even more hot and cold starters in separate menu sections. Entrées are divided into different kinds of meats, noodle-based dishes, and Chef Specialties and Grandmother Homestyle Cooking selections. Of the latter, sweet-and-sour pork is mild and familiar; the stir-fried shredded duck, one-chili hot. As for drinks, on offer are beers, wines and teas. A banana spring roll is the lone dessert.
