20nine Restaurant & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
The restaurant gets its name from the highway that cleaves Napa Valley wine country, and its worldly wine flights are accordingly called “road trips.” Let your top down and take a cruise; the wines, no longer confined solely to California, are well-priced and there’s usually a convertible-conjuring breeze blowing through the outdoor seating space. The food was initially not as fine, but the latest chef seems to have tuned up the kitchen; encounters with cast-iron scallops with prosciutto, carrot purée and habanero caramel suggest that it’s now hitting on all cylinders. Wine-friendly small plates and entrées include tenderloin lollipops and lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, while pastas such as orecchiette with meatballs and a pork chop flaunting grilled pineapple extend the driving range. A good way to ease into a full-out foray is to take advantage of the Monday-Friday happy hour (it starts at 3:30 p.m.) and its 25 percent-off wines, apps and pizzas.
