The Brixton Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: With its low-key, clubby atmosphere, The Brixton achieves that sought after trifecta of happy hour hangout, dinner destination and late-night pit stop. High ceilings, hardwood floors and French doors that open to sidewalk seating keep the dark-wooded and red-hued restaurant feeling spacious. At the center, a massive bar topped with granite and wrapped in quilted leather features an extensive cocktail menu. Eccentric touches, such as a back wall covered in burgundy flocking paper, add the right amount of charm.
Food & Drinks: You’ll find refinement brought to bar-friendly foods. Deviled eggs are “demonized” with blue crab, bacon and aïoli. Entrées might range from a grass-fed burger to seared salmon with orzo pasta, braised winter greens, cherry tomato, pesto and herb lime crème fraîche. Desserts are decadent and creative: Humphry Slocombe maple bourbon ice cream is a fine platemate for a hunk of Dutch apple pie with maple candy streusel. The wine list is rather ordinary --- sip on one of the specialty cocktails instead or venture into microbrew focused beers.
