THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS Ella's Restaurant Review:
This popular, casual spot promises neoclassical American cooking and delivers the goods: hearty pork chops; meatloaf with rich, brown gravy; crunchy fried chicken; and a homey chicken potpie. Ella's serves its American cuisine to regulars from the neighborhood, but the big deal here is weekend brunch---even though Ella's expanded its seats in a major remodel, lines still snake around Presidio Avenue every Saturday and Sunday morning. Diners sit cheek-by-jowl vying for the open-face omelets. Fresh fruit, buttermilk pancakes, homemade sticky buns and coffee cake are washed down with bottomless cups of coffee. Service is calm and organized despite the weekend pandemonium.
