Nick & Toni's Restaurant Review:

Consider yourself lucky if you're able to secure a table at Nick & Toni's. The huge wood-burning oven in the back of the dining room may be the star of the culinary show, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself dining next to real Hollywood stars. Patrons come in for the warm and attentive service as well as the creative Mediterranean fare prepared with care by chef Joe Realmuto. His focus is on local ingredients and organic produce grown in the restaurant’s own garden, and he delivers winners night after night. The local Balsam Farms zucchini chips are a favorite, and the foie gras torchon is a chic starter to any meal. Of course, with that centerpiece of an oven, the pizzas are definitely worth a try --- the clam pizza with Swiss chard and bacon is a topnotch nosh. As in many Italian joints, mains are divided into Primi or first courses --- mainly pastas like the strozzapreti with braised duck and delicate squash or hand-cut pappardelle with oyster mushrooms. Secondi are meat- and fish-based dishes like wood-grilled venison with savoy cabbage and juniper sauce, quail with squash, pecans and leeks or pan-roasted cod with cauliflower, parsnip purée and bordelaise sauce. Maybe with the s’mores-inspired chocolate cheesecake with graham cracker, marshmallow and honey-whiskey gelato and a sip of limoncello, you will muster the courage to ask for that autograph.
