Pizzazz Restaurant Review:
A casual crowd gathers at this East Side Italian joint, which serves everything from salads with a tasty house dressing to pastas, sandwiches and calzones. To the left of the open kitchen, pizzas are turned out at a rapid pace for students of nearby John Carroll University. You'll also find co-eds populating the roomy, booth-laden dining room. Meanwhile, to the right, a sleek tavern area buzzes, as draft beer flows and a handful of professor-types debate the topic du jour. The menu is fairly extensive, but the pies are what bring in the masses (up to 600 on a busy night). Five sauce options are available, including red, white, pesto, Diablo (roasted hot peppers and shallots) and Rosie’s (ground red bell peppers in red sauce, topped with Asiago); combine them with over 30 toppings for a nearly endless variety. Outside of the pies, there are burgers, sandwiches and tacos to be had. The cheddar bacon burger, while out of place in an Italian joint, is a tasty choice.
