Pierre Loti Restaurant Review:
The Midtown East branch of this French-Moroccan restaurant offers an intimate atmosphere on an avenue that is otherwise overrun by college and sports bars. Pierre Loti’s bi-level space is small but accommodating, and exudes Mediterranean charm. Appetizers include a tender olive oil-poached artichoke, served with carrots, potatoes and peas, and traditionally prepared cracked-wheat patties filled with ground lamb, pine nuts, spices and raisins. Entrées are varied and showcase the flavors of the different regions that highlight the menu. Indecisive? Try the quail stuffed with rice, raisins and pine nuts, and the pan-seared duck breast served on a bed of potato-apple pancake with a tangy plum ginger sauce. A bottle of Trapiche Broquel Malbec from Mendoza pairs nicely with the meal.
