Pino Restaurant Review:
Pino has been around for 20 years serving Mediterranean fare to clubbers and pub crawlers in the middle of Montreal's most exciting district. Open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 1 a.m. other days, it serves appealing fare well into the night and early morning. Beautifully plated bruschetta, prosciutto-wrapped melon and salads are recommended before diving into bold Italian-Mediterranean entrées. Veal is the star among lamb, beef, seafood and poultry mains, with the scaloppine piccolo mondo (veal with prosciutto and sautéed mushrooms) a standout. Also worth sampling is cozze en padella, a heady casserole of fresh mussels sautéed with white wine, vegetables, lemon and Pernod. Desserts are limited to cheesecake, tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake. The wine list focuses on Italian selections, although there is a good representation of old- and new-world options.
