THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Pinot Blanc Restaurant Review:
On beautiful days and warm nights the dining room opens up to let in the fresh air of the Napa Valley. White paneled walls are accented with breezy fabrics to evoke an easygoing charm. Chef Kerry Heffernan, who used to be chef-owner of Autumn Moon in Oakland, is bringing rustic sensibilities to the French-inspired California menu. A starter of roasted baby beets is spiked with local arugula and topped with Pyrenees goat cheese and 25-year-old balsamic vinegar. Day boat scallops are paired with roasted portobello mushrooms and white truffle oil. Entrées are hearty without feeling heavy. Try the pan-roasted halibut with morel mushrooms, asparagus and spring onion sauce or the ricotta gnocchi with braised veal cheeks and fava leaves. The grilled chicken is loaded with herbs and Meyer lemons before being paired with potato purée and baby carrots. For dessert, the strawberry and rhubarb tart is served with a delightful crème fraîche ice cream. A nicely priced wine list has some rare local wines.
