PintxoPote Restaurant Review:
PintxoPote (pronounced 'pincho potay') is a tapas (pintxos) bar offering Spanish-Basque cuisine from chef Hector Figueroa. Traditional cold tapas include the popular "indurain" --- bonito tuna belly, anchovy, guindilla peppers and olives, all on a stick; diners are meant to down it in one bite. Boquerones (white anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea) are cured in olive oil. Hot tapas such as croquetas de bacalao are a must. These codfish croquettes are crunchy yet soft and pillowy inside. Patatas bravas (fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce) are a fine flavor wake-up call. Cheese and charcuterie trays are laden with Spanish and Basque cheeses and delectable Ibérico cured meats: Ibérico de Bellota features Spain’s prized acorn‐fed pork; tabla de Ibéricos presents jamon, paleta, chorizo and salchichon; and tabla quesos includes four Spanish and Basque cheeses with quince paste and fig jam. Specialties include tender beef cheeks, grilled octopus over cauliflower purée, and a skewer of monkfish and prawns served with garlic and sherry vinegar. The beverage list includes Spanish wines, beers and sherries.
