Prasino Restaurant Review:
We’ll start by saying this place is big --- really big. And ambitious. Taking a “green” approach --- the stylish interior is carved from recycled materials --- the menu aims high as well. The focus, really, is on organic fare, and it’s served via three meals daily. To those acclimated with more sophisticated eats, the menu may seem pedestrian. Still, we liked the hand-plucked forest mushroom bruschetta swathed in Parmesan sauce, tender braised short ribs with cauliflower-cheddar gratin, and ancho-braised lamb shank in a truffle mushroom Cabernet sauce. While we didn’t love everything and we certainly don’t feel it ever went out on a limb, we kind of understand given its play-it-safe clientele. Cocktails, unfortunately, are hit or miss. Smoothies, fresh-squeezed juices and agave-sweetened sodas are offered, too. Also located at 51 S. First St., St. Charles, 630-908-5200.
