Prime Meridian Restaurant Review:
Prime Meridian’s large, modern dining room exudes a romantic quality. Wavy ceiling baffles help subdue noise levels. Securing a corner table provides dramatic views not only of the skyline but also of Skyview Atlanta, the city's answer to the London Eye. Start with the Southern toast trio, a shareable arrangement of a choice of three small snacks with toast and a red pepper coulis. We particularly liked the warm oxtail meat, and chose the black truffle mousse pâté (although couldn’t taste any truffle) and gently smoked trout, which we found a little dry although flavorful. Other options included pulled pork, barbecued chicken and pickled avocado. Seasonality governs the availability of ramps, so it’s odd to find them listed as an ingredient on a poussin plate with sweet potato dumplings that were barely edible. The poussin, although somewhat overcooked and dry, benefited from the tasty cream sauce. For dessert, get the chocolate peanut butter pie, and never mind the absence of the promised Muscadine glaze. The restaurant also serves breakfast as a hotel service, and the bar stays busy with a bar menu until midnight. The wine list has been upgraded, but still lacks the sophistication it ought to exhibit, and red wines are served too warm, although the staff will chill the bottle if you prefer yours less than “room temperature.”
