Rancatore's Ice Cream & Yogurt Restaurant Review:
This Toscanini sibling makes all its unique ice cream flavors on the storefront premises, where loyal customers line up all summer long for a scoop. There is yogurt and sorbet, too, but most people have one thing in mind: a creamy cone. The always rotating list of flavors includes everything from bittersweet chocolate to carrot cake. Best of all, sundaes are available in a "micro" size, which is ideal for lots of sampling or for smaller appetites. The "small" size is still quite generous. Ice cream sodas, raspberry lime rickeys and extra-thick frappes are available. If you really can't get enough, order a pint, quart or half gallon of your favorite flavor to take home. Also located at 1752 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington, 781-862-5090; and 333 Walnut St., Newtonville, 617-916-0963.
