The Raven Grill Restaurant Review:
This cool --- but not overly cool --- hangout, which pays tribute to Edgar Allen Poe's most famous poem, is a favorite haunt of the stylish Southhampton neighborhood set. The trendy, industrial-chic décor is marked by a huge print of a raven at the entry, cute boxed birdseed cocktail tables, and a serene plant-filled outdoor patio. Most items lean toward Mexican and Southwestern cuisine; but then there's that pot roast dinner, held out as a Raven specialty, as well as a pasta primavera. The lunch crowd goes for the tuna salad, chicken salad and veggie sandwiches or the more robust mesquite-grilled burgers, with a choice of beef, turkey and portobello mushroom. At night, we suggest trying one of the dinner items grilled over a wood fire, such as New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes, or the catfish or tuna, each served with herbed rice and grilled vegetables. End it all with the kid-pleasing peanut butter pie, actually a mousse on a graham-cracker crust; or Chocolate Nevermore, a flourless cake with chocolate mousse filling, all covered in ganache. Enjoy a leisurely Sunday brunch with mimosas and the Raven sampler featuring Raven tacos, quesadilla, fried oysters, onion rings and a seafood cake. During the week they offer a kids’ menu as well.
